  1. I kind of just want to replace my Mac Mini HD with an SSD but if I can install this instead, that would be good… if I can run OSX off this new SSD? I'm not sure if the way it installs will run OSX properly or how I can transfer my system easily to the new drive once it's in there. Does OWC offer any tutorials about this… or just a video tutorial to show how to swap the Mac Mini HD with an SSD? I would still have the problem of copying the system data to the new SSD.

  2. 2:52 be careful with that IR connector, mine came off too easily from the logic board instead of the plastic snap in attachment. Now I am wondering how easy it is to solder 5 tiny wires with a microscope. 🙁

  3. i dont have the same cable as shown, my cable from the original HDD is longer and placed on the right socket meaning the socket that the second HDD suppose to be installed in this video … how can i solve this issue its driving me crazy ….

  4. Great video; thank you very much.

The IR sensor is extremely delicate, as is the connection to the logic board. If you bout the OWC install kit, look in the manual and they actually specify how fragile it is.

When unplugging the IR cable, I actually ripped the entire thing off of the logic board. It was so easily broken i did not notice until trying to plug it back in.

The mini is almost fully functional, because and IR remote is nearly useless anyways.
But the power light is broken
