Shrink Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on single-layer DVD

This is a tutorial video on how to shrink Mac OS 10.5 Leopard so it can fit on a single-layer DVD. As you may (or may not) know, Mac OS 10.5 Leopard doesn’t fit on a single-layer DVD, it requires a dual-layer DVD. There is a way so you can fit it on an USB stick, but on older G4 machines, there is USB 1.1, which is slow, and it would take forever to install. By removing all languages and all printer drivers plus the Xcode Tools, you can make Leopard fit on a single-layer DVD. Check out the video for more info. Also, this is also my first video edited on iMovie for iOS, available for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. Also, this trick may work also with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, but I’m unsure. Hope you enjoyed!

  1. This didn't work. After you begin the install with this it a check runs to make sure the disc is complete. Sure enough, it fails the disc check with the missing files and you have yourself another coaster.

  2. For me this does not work at all, when i creating the 4.7GB image to put the Leopard on (i already deleted all languages and printer driver) it says that there is not enough space available even though the source is 4.6GB and the target image 4.7GB. I have tried this on all my 3 Macbook Pro´s and its all the same result.. i dont know what to do. I cant create an image that is larger than 4.7GB cus it will not be able to burn on a single layer DVD. Anyone know what to do ?

  3. Congratulation for your post! You are a smooth operator!  Tell me, please,  if my eMac
G4  1GHz and 1GB Ram shows at start the folder with the  sign of question mark and the finder what could I do to enter in my hard disk to repair the boot loader or to recover my data from hard disk. Please give me un advice ore reccomand a program… thank you!

  4. excellent video…. I have an issue tho, I'm wondering if you can give me a hand?
I follow ALL your steps, the DVD burns with no issues, it's when I try to customize the install; in the language selection I have most languages automatically selected and only three left with no check mark. I cannot uncheck all the other ones. They're dimmed in colour and UPGRADE reads next to them. The check button has a "-" symbol on it. I go ahead with the install and it quits on me saying "there appears to be a problem with the disk, clean it and try again". I triple checked all the steps and I deleted ALL the language files. I burned a couple of DVD's this way and one of them actually went to 23% before it quit on me.  HELP PLS!!!   Thank you in advanced
